When the wind blows and the sapling whips in its breezes, our instinct is to offer support; so we wrap our hands around the tiny trunk and hold it up. If the wind ceased we would release, but wind never ceases, and so the tree grows warped, twisting around our fingers and limbs. In time, we find our hands are trapped, and we cannot remove them without an ax; risking the loss of our limbs, and the life of the tree. When supporting a sapling, we should do so sparingly, with open palms. Trees must grow their own roots.
